UGLY sweater party

Last Saturday we had an UGLY Christmas Sweater Party at our house.  It was so much fun to have everyone out.  The little Carter man made his rounds, while I spent the night chasing Lily around making sure she wasn't causing tooo much trouble.  We only had to call the emergency vet once in the middle of the party since she ate a whole special K bar.  And those of you who know my mom's special K bar recipe...who could blame her :)  S
he spent a lot of her time over by the keg as well....we may have to have an intervention.  We had a ton of fun with family and friends and we were so glad to have everyone out.

Merry Christmas everyone...and oh...for those of you who have been following my friend Martha's blog (the klopp quads) they just lost little James.  So please keep them in  your thoughts and prayers this holiday season, those little girls need tons of positive thoughts sent their way in the NICU.

Here are some pics from the party....pretty ugly huh??

Its the most wonderful time of the year!

It has always been a tradition for my family to go and cut down our christmas tree.  I love the smell of real trees and it is just so much fun to go and pick one out!  Josh of course has to do all the work....so I don't know how much he enjoys cutting our own tree :)  This year we got two...one for our main level and one for our newly finished basement!

Me pretending like I am doing some work

The little man had a good time too!

The tree downstairs will be the 'kid tree.'  It has all of our ornaments from when we were little and some of Carter's first ornaments!

Lily found her favorite spot...she also drinks all of my water from under the trees

Gobble Gobble

Last Saturday we celebrated Thanksgiving with the Remme Family.  Carter had a fabulous time meeting everyone.  Alex, who is 12 and just a peanut had the magic touch...he fell asleep in her arms twice!  (we know who to call up for a future babysitter :)

The night before Thanksgiving we ventured down to Faribault to hang out with friends.  Grandma and Grandpa Remme were more than excited to babysit.  Carter had a fun time at the Remme's and Mommy and Daddy had a fun time catching up with high school friends!

Thanksgiving day was spent at my aunt and uncle's house in Prior Lake.  We of course had waaay too much yummy food.  Carter wore his holstein cow sweater for Grandpa Thompson :)  We have so much to be thankful for.  In particular I am extremely thankful for a healthy family, amazing friends, and a cozy home.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Carter's 1st Playdate

Carter had his very 1st play date with little Miss Avery this week.  Corinne is a co-worker of mine and we have been wanting to get the two of them together for a while now.  She is 10 weeks older than Carter, and as you can tell by these pics, she is the same size (or maybe a tad bit smaller :)  Avery grabbed onto Carter's hand and didn't want to let go.  Love at first sight :)

2 months old!

Our little baby boy is already 2 months old!  How time flies when you are having fun with such a cutie!  He is smiling and cooing and gaaaaing.  He definitely follows you when you are close to him.  He loves playing on his mat on the floor.  His favorite is when he hits the toys hanging above (I don't know if he means to hit them, but he loves it when it happens)

I brought him in for his 2 month checkup on Tuesday.  He now weights 14 lb 9 oz (97th percentile) and is 24 1/4 inches long (90-97th percentile)  He is wearing 6 month clothing and does not fit in the 0-6 month socks anymore :)  He got two shots :(  I give shots to little babes all the time at work....but it's a little different when it's your own baby :(  I almost started crying.  He did really well and stopped crying as soon as mommy held him.  We can't believe how much he has grown!  I am taking a million pictures just to capture it!

My 1st Birthday as a Mommy!

Last Friday was my 25th birthday!  I spent the day changing dirty diapers, chasing around a crazy dog and got spit up on multiple times....oh life for me has changed drastically :)  But I love it and wouldn't change it for the world.

Friday night Josh, my mom and brother and of course the little man went out to eat at Bucca's in Maple Grove.  Carter was a little angel and did so well!  It was a great night and I was so happy to celebrate my bday with my fam :)  My mom gave me an adorable necklace (worn by the stars I might add)  It has Carter's name engraved on one silver piece and his birthday on the other.  It also has a gorgeous saphire charm as well.  I LOVE IT!!

Saturday was our first night away from our baby boy.  My mom offered to watch him for my birthday...so Josh and I took advantage and had a night out on the town :)  We went to ACME Comedy Club downtown and had a blast and then stayed at the Hilton, across from the Convention Center.  And the reason why I mention the convention center is because they had a Pokemon convention, and let me tell you....Josh and I had a blast sitting at the hotel bar watching all the Pokemon people coming in :)  Lets just leave it at that...haha.  Quite entertaining.

I was so jealous the next morning when I found out Carter had a 7 hour stretch for his Nana....she is one lucky lady...the longest I have gotten so far has been 6 :)  Here are some pics from Friday night....

Lots of Love this Fall

This weekend we went to another wedding in Cokato!  Our brother-in-law's little sister got married on Saturday.  It was so much fun to spend the weekend with Carissa and all of her family and friends again.  Tina looked gorgeous...I am so bummed that I didn't get a picture of the bride, but any hoo it was yet another weekend of love :)  So glad we got to be a part of it.

Mr Carter looked fabulous in his little tie that Nana Lynn made to match his daddy.  My two boys were very handsome.  What an amazing fall day to get hitched...here are some pics from this weekend.

Happy Halloween!

Friday we spent the night hanging out with Carissa, Eric, Robyn, Travis, Andrea and Flop.  Unfortunately we weren't able to have our Halloween party this year, but we had a blast hanging out with these guys!  Carter dressed up for the occasion, and of course we took plenty of pics :)  Carter even got a 1st Halloween book from his auntie.

Saturday the little man and I took a trip to St. Paul for St. Olaf's conference cross country meet.  I felt soooo old!  The only girls I knew were seniors!  They ran very well, and surprisingly it didn't make me miss racing one bit :)  I didn't get any pics since it was freezing and the little guy was snug as a bug in his stroller.  We all were wishing we could be bundled up like he was.

Saturday night Josh went to the gopher's game so I decided to take a road trip with my little monkey and the crazy lily dog.  I didn't really have the energy to deal with a crazy dog every time our door bell rang with trick or treaters.  We stopped at my mom's house and got some great pics, and then headed down to Lakeville to the farm to visit.
Hanging out with Great Grandpa Thompson, he was so content on his lap :)

A little update on our 'little guy.'  He weighs about 13.5 lbs and is wearing 3-6 month clothing (yes he is not even 7 weeks)  He is a champ when it comes to eating...surprise, surprise.  He sleeps for about 5 hours at night, wakes up to eat and then sleeps for another 3 hours.  He is such a good little baby, I can't really complain :)  He is 'cooing' and 'gaaahing' and spitting up frequently when Josh holds him...haha :)  I just love watching his eyes when he is looking around at everything, it's as if he is just trying so hard to take in absolutely everything.  We are having so much fun with him!

Mr. and Mrs. Holman!

Our very good friends Joe and Kara got married this past weekend.  The wedding was absolutely gorgeous (Kara has such cute taste).  It was outside...a little chilly....but so pretty!  Carissa and Eric drove us to the wedding, watched the little man and then came to pick us up after the reception.  We were so thankful that the two of them offered to do that.  Josh and I had a fabulous date night, and I had no worries since I knew Carissa and Eric were just loving our little guy up!  Our fall is full of all these love birds getting married!  Also, on Saturday the Zwebers came over to meet Mr. Carter.  Sam just turned 1, and he is just the cutest!
