The Remmes stayed home all weekend because of Carter's temp, which wasn't that bad....meaning we had a WHOLE weekend to work on some projects that I have been wanting to do for some time :)
Reese's room is close to finished....(and yes she is 8 months old). It is a little different this time around since we didn't know we were having a girly!
Saturday morning I met Carissa and Courtney and we headed to Dassel to check out
Whimsy Green's Winter Sale. I didn't know what I would find, but I did stumble upon these adorable birdies. I bought them not knowing where they would go. But soon found a home for them in the girly's room on her tree shelves.
Speaking of 'tree shelves.' Her tree is almost complete! I might add a third shelf on the lower right. But for now this is how it turned out. I got the original idea off of pinterest and ordered the tree from here:
Etsy SimpleShapes
I also found this adorable birdy picture at a craft fair this weekend. Way too cute and the color of the frame was perfect!
I thought her baptismal shoes would look perfect displayed on the shelf as well.
These adorable owl book ends were a purchase from PB kids along with the pink book. I also found an adorable pink frame at my hospital's gift shop.
And of course the whole room is designed around the AMAZING quilt my Grandma Thompson made for Reese (you can see it draped over the big comfy green chair)
Another completed project for Reese's room is her chandelier. I have had it for a couple weeks now, just needed the time to finish it. I found some adorable chandeliers for her room over at PB kids, however didn't LOVE them enough to spend that much money. The one I did like could not be hardwired and would therefore have a big cord running down the wall or plugged into an outlet on the top of the ceiling..no thank you. I got this idea off of pinterest as well. Over at:
HowDoesShe.
I started with this
chandelier found at Ikea. Such an amazing price for such a cute chandelier! However it is constantly sold out in Minneapolis so I had to wait patiently for a shipment. Uncle Brandon then headed over to Ikea to pick one up for me (thanks Bran!)
Started out by removing all of the 'bling' so I could spray prime it.
Next I bought acrylic paint and went to town painting with a foam brush found in the craft section.
After the paint dried I put the 'bling' back on....very carefully and TA DA!
Reese's New Chandelier!
Here is a pic of the tree and chandelier together in the room:
Those were my project this weekend and I might have convinced my hubby that this project would be fun for him.....Here is a 'sneak' peek....
YUP that is a TV stand given to us by my Grandma and Grandpa Thompson (they just got a new tv and were getting rid of this....I quickly snatched it up....I think my family thinks I am crazy....but I have a vision...promise). We, and by we I mean Josh sanded, primed and painted this weekend.
Hopefully within this month I will be able to update you with a picture that looks more like this:
